Do men have the support they need to stay healthy?

Do men have the support they need to stay healthy?

15-21 June 2020 is Men's Health Week, and awareness of the health issues that affect men disproportionately is important now and every week of the year.

Mental health is an important topic that many men find difficult to understand, admit to how it affects them and know where to turn when they have an issue.

Mental health can cover things like problems sleeping, or dealing with stress at work, or feeling suicidal. Many things can affect our mental health, for instance drinking alcohol which contains depressants can make us feel low, or smoking cigarettes can be a coping mechanism which distracts us from thinking about a problem we're experiencing.

There are things that can positively affects our thoughts and emotions, like eating a healthy diet which can give our brain the chemicals it needs to work effectively, or keeping active which can release chemicals that make us feel more energetic and able to cope.
